X-plorenow Mission Statement

X-plorenow is a conservation, outdoor adventure and expedition organization focused on reconnecting people with the world around them through hands-on outdoor exploration. We feel that nature is an asset that should be cherished and enjoyed. But that asset is at risk. Our goal is to reconnect people to nature by facilitating their own personal enjoyment. Our job is to educate and advise in hopes that people will start making smarter decisions that impact the world around us. Our mission is to improve conservation while continuing to allow access to these beautiful places. We feel that this is the only way to ensure continued protection and enjoyment for years to come.

 The Story

My wife and I have a passion for a variety of outdoor activities including traveling, RVing, off-roading, overlanding, camping, mountain biking, hiking, boating, snorkeling, and, kayaking. The more remote, the better! We crave the solitude and companionship of the wilderness, and love to explore and find new things. Campgrounds don't do it for us; we need to be in the middle of absolutely nowhere. Add to that we generally travel solo, scary yes, but that is part of the excitement.

We were often joined on our adventures by the expedition anchor, my mother in-law, Olga. While often annoying ;-), she does provide a great deal of comic relief to our trips! The remainder of our team is made up of our four dogs, Rocky, Nico, Bear, and Zeus. The more we explored, the more we wanted to see, we had officially caught the outdoor bug.

I am very lucky to have found such a wonderful wife that also shares similar interests and passions. For a little while we have been trying to find a way to be able to spend more time outdoors, and possibly make a living at it by helping others to have similar experiences. A few months ago we came up with the idea for X-plorenow. And now we will see where it takes us....

What We Do

While there are a lot of sites, magazines, and organizations out there focused on extreme adventure travel, there is not a lot of information and content focused on the beginner or family adventurers. The goal of X-plorenow is to provide a community environment where beginner, family, and advanced adventurers can get together to educate and share ideas and experiences. We strongly believe that today's society has become disconnected with nature and has begun to take the world around us for granted. Our hope is that adventure travel and exploration can move from a niche extreme sport to a mainstream family oriented activity. Hopefully we again will gain an appreciation of the world around us, and hopefully this appreciation will lead us to make better choices in the future that will protect our planet and allow our children's children to be able to explore and enjoy it as much as we have.

The same is true for conservation. Most conservationists preach complete protectionism. But if we can't explore and enjoy these areas first hand, we often loose appreciation for them, and therefore our willingness to protect them. Our goal is to improve conservation by leveraging improved enjoyment and awareness through hands-on activities. But we need to ensure continued access for this to become a reality. Often seen as two opposing view points, our mission is to bring the two sides together.

Your adventures and expeditions don't have to be extreme; they could be as simple as a short hike and a picnic in the woods, or exploring the shoreline of new beach. All but the basic adventures do require proper equipment and planning, and in some cases training.      X-plorenow is a resource to help you to identify and plan for your perfect adventure. All of the effort is worth it, enjoying the outdoors will help with you and your families physical and mental health, while giving you a better appreciation of the world around you. It is also often quite inexpensive.

With that said, the goal of X-plorenow is to:

• Educate individuals and families on adventure selection and planning, proper gear selection and use, activity techniques, and survival topics
• Provide a Community for our members to share knowledge, experiences, and adventures
• Deliver picture, journal, and video Content to allow our members to experience others expeditions and to learn about remote locations 
• Serve as a Guide to our members to help them to select the ideal adventure, or to accompany us on one of our guided expeditions
